Pilates is an intelligent exercise method, originally named ‘contrology’ and was created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. The six key Pilates principles are control, concentration, centering, flow, precision & breath.

Pilates targets the entire body & focuses primarily on improving the strength & connection to the power house/ deep core. You can expect to notice many other benefits from practicing Pilates regularly such as improved posture, balance, alignment, strength, flexibility, coordination, energy & overall wellbeing.

The Pilates method was originally taught on a variety of equipment such as the mat, reformer, cadillac, ladder barrel, wunda chair, spine corrector, baby chair, high chair, pedi pole & the magic circle. More contemporary styles include Pilates props such as resistance bands, hand / ankle weights, foam rollers & stability balls.

Pilates is great for everyone, from people just wanting to stay in shape to eliete athletes, dancers, pre & postnatal women to people recovering from chronic injuries needing rehabilitation. Workouts can be tailored to all levels, just 2-3 x a week can make a huge difference to the way your body will look & feel!
